Adrian stood in front of the cluttered desk for nearly six minutes before the administrator shifted her Lane Bryant-clad bulk around from the vigorous activity of filing her crimson nails to notice him.

"Oh, good morning Mr. McClaredon," she cooed, stripping him with her eyes.

Adrian repressed a shudder and set a file folder on the desk. He would have dropped it directly on her head but he didn't want to get within snackin' range.

"Please process these."

"What are they?"

"Transfer papers for my sister Mirelle McClaredon. I'll notify the staff as a formality but I'm sure she's completed her work here at Rocking Horse."

The secretary clicked her tongue, "Awww that's too bad. I remember she used to run around with... her little friends and stuff." The woman waved a doughy hand vaguely.

Adrian remained silent.

"Where is she going?"

"Remaining, actually. We both decided that it would be better for her to stay in Scotland following the holidays. She'll be attending boarding school there with several of her cousins."

The secretary blinked. Ah the lives of the rich and famous.

"Well I hope she enjoyed her time here," the secretary stated in a perfunctory manner.

"I doubt it," Adrian replied, his voice skating over a very, very thin layer of ice.

The secretary blinked again, "Will you be...?"

"Renewing my contract? Absolutely not. The board will be sending a substitute until a permanent replacement is found and I believe that James Taylor has made the decision to stay on. I will continue to fund the fencing coach and the Model UN team, however. And the scholarship offered at the start of the year will become an annual matter. It's all in the paperwork there. " He gestured at the folder.

The secretary looked slightly flattened. But the cold look in Adrian's hazel eyes prevented further questioning.

"Alright then... I'll file it today."

"Good."

He turned, trailed as usual by Li Wei and several staff members, all as somber as their employer.

<<Are you certain?>> Li Wei asked quietly.

In a rare show of emotion Adrian made a face of absolute distaste.

<<The air in this place stinks and the people are even worse. Jim can wallow around with them all he wants. I'm done.>>

Li Wei paused and looked behind him as they exited the office <<Mingyu hasn't told her friends yet.>>

Adrian smirked << Then she's probably as revolted as I am. >>

Irma's beady eyes focused with pity on the lump that spilled over the creaky office chair behind the desk.

It was absolutely terrible, poor woman. No neck. Not like her own, swan-like features crowned with grace and length.

Stretching herself to ostrich-fullness, the brilliant bird of paradise eyed the papers that the secretary was processing.

"What, my good woman, are those?"

The secretary shuddered and creaked around to look at the woman standing in front of her desk. She was suddenly reminded of the Neverending Story that her niece had watched last night. Something about that little monster that ran around dressed in a trash heap.

"Mr. McClaredon dropped these off to transfer his little sister out and gave notice of his own departure."

"DePARTure?" Irma shrieked, extending her soprano to the falsetto dramatica range to indicate her shock, "Impossible! Unacceptable! I-I-I won't accept that! Surely, you stupid woman, you see what a loss? I mean, it is absolutely forbidden!"

"His contract is over," the secretary replied comfortably.

Irma's nostril's flared and for a moment it looked as if she would peck sharply, extending that long, graceful neck to stab out fatty-fat's eyes.

Instead she drew herself up to her fullest height.

"Unacceptable," she stated again.

Setting off at her most graceful sashay she took up the air of The Maiden Betrayed, eyes gently dew-moist with grief, head held high with bruised pride, and arms extended in supplication.

This shall not pass. This SHALL NOT PASS!
